The Backstory
I began my career in financial services in 1997 with one of Canada’s leading insurers. Those early years built a strong foundation in client care and financial strategy, but I soon realized I wanted to create something more personal. In 2002, I joined Richard McKenster Financial Planning — now Merestone Financial Planning — where I became a partner in developing thoughtful processes for retirement planning, cashflow management, and risk preparation.
That step allowed me to work more closely with families — helping them design financial strategies that reflect not just their goals, but their values. As a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), I take a holistic approach to every client relationship, considering the full picture — not only investments and insurance, but how all parts of life fit together financially.
From retirement and cashflow planning to estate preparation and risk management, my goal is simple: to bring clarity, consistency, and confidence to people’s financial lives so they can focus on what matters most.
I’m a long-standing member of Advocis, The Financial Advisors Association of Canada, and an active member of the Halifax Estate Planning Council, which helps me stay connected to evolving best practices and professional standards in our field.
Born and raised in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, I come from a family of advisors — my father is one as well — and that early exposure to financial guidance shaped my belief that good advice starts with listening and genuine care.
